    Copenhagen online

    2010/09/01   (Edit)

Long before climate conferences, Copenhagen was a green capital. Do the right thing. Before you set off, creating unnecessary carbon emissions, find your way on the net first.

    Multimedia

    thecopenhagenreport.blogspot.com

Canadian Timothy Anderson has lived in Copenhagen since 2000 and sets out his adopted city in this excellent multimedia blog. Use the right-hand bar to access the content that interests you; click on “Christiania” to see one of the most complete reports on the net regarding the alternative “free city”. However, the most fun part of the site is the bit where you can watch the great series of MyDenmarkTV programmes. Alongside co-presenters Li Yuan Wu and Julie Tran, Tim showcases Copenhagen via the well-trained and selective perspective of an ex-patriot. There are 50 episodes already produced – some of the latest include the small guide to the local red light district and commemorations of the longest day of the year.

I want to ride my bicycle…

    www.bycyklen.dk

All you need is a 20 kroner coin (which is refunded when returning the bike) to use one of the public bicycles – citybikes – that Copenhagen provides for residents and tourists. The official site gives you the map of the area where the bikes can be used (if you stray from it you are liable to be fined) and the rules for their use. No riding on pavements, footpaths or at night.

    Neo vikings

    www.kajakole.com

You don’t have to be a real Viking to conquer Copenhagen by sea. This agency does Kayak trips on the Christianhavn canals. If you enjoy it, take part in a game of kayak polo.

    Shopping

    copenhagen.unlike.net

Like all cites covered by the portal Unlike.net, the Copenhagen site is particularly good for shopping. The hottest designers and most stylish shops are all here.

How do say bom appetit in Danish?

Techie while working, blogger Trine Lai is a foodie in his spare time. Since 2007, he has made his readers hungry with superb commentary and delicious photos of the best restaurants in Copenhagen. If you’re in a rush, click on “Gastronaut’s Guide to Copenhagen” to see a complete list of his favourite places, with links to the respective posts.
